There’s Something You Have!

Blessings family! Shout out to all our “essential workers” out there in these scary times. Those on the front lines… working in health care, retail, manufacturing, finance, defense, news media, infrastructure etc. Thank you!

Few days ago, I saw a video by Bishop T.D. Jakes and I would like to share some revelation I got from the video while referencing the scriptures.

Due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, we’re advised to stay in and maintain social distancing. Beautiful people, we may be shut in at home but we’re not shut out of creativity and ideas. In fact, this is a time to invest in you, your mind and bring that seed of greatness in you to fruition. Please do not slip into a state of anxiety or depression. Starve your fears by feeding your mind with faith filled resources (call or video call your family, spend time with loved ones, read your bible, read a book, watch/listen to sermons online, stay connected to your local church and comment on www.wordjunkie.org etc).

The poor widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7 is a great example that the turnarounds we earnestly seek in our lives are achievable when we’re shut in at home away from the distractions and busyness out there. She was given specific instructions by the prophet Elisha to help turn her situation around. Ladies and Gents, (3) things we see from their encounter:

  1. Discernment – verse 2; there is absolutely something (seed) each of us has that others need. Something you love and do successfully. If you’re not seed full, you can’t be fruitful, Genesis 1:28. For some of us, this stay in or shut in is a good time to realize what God has planted in us to be of benefit to us and those around us. The world is waiting to receive what you got, Romans 8:19.
  2. Development – verse 3; leverage resources from well meaning people, mentors, online information, books to help grow, refine, mature your seed. In doing so, you’re watering your seed and bringing out the value(s) in it. This is where you optimize your craft, talent or gifting.
  3. Deployment – verse 7; once you’ve been able to discern your seed and develop it into a fruit then you share it and spread out. People need to experience what God has put in you. Your fruit is to bless your family, neighbors, community, society, city, nation, the world which in turn brings you joy and fulfillment. In this age of social media, the internet and tech you can use all of that to maximize your fruit and reach. Rather than seek employment, seek your deployment.

For some of you, this is a period to discern what you’re good at. For some who already know it, you just gotta develop it. While others have discerned and developed it, now it’s time to deploy – share it with those around them.

Mark Twain said “the two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Let’s make the most of this time- realize your ‘Why’, optimize it and maximize it. Stay home but stay strong mentally and physically.

Great post SOJ. I love how you broke down that scripture to let us all know we have potential within ourselves that we can all tap into and utilize for greatness.

LOL. Absolutely! We all have something in us that others need. It doesn’t have to be big or grand. You just gotta realize it, optimize it and maximize it.
