Don’t let people stop YOU!!

Beautiful people, we all need one another – true. Everything we’ll accomplish in life will be through the help and support from others. No one is an island. However, people could either be your biggest asset or biggest liability – you determine.

On the road to success you will come in contact with those who will add, multiply to your life (asset) and those who will subtract, divide your life (liability). Question is: “How do we deal with the liabilities, right?” Lol.

Ladies and Gents, we can take a cue from my man Isaac – Genesis 26:12-32. Isaac, a man of covenant, even in famine, God prospered him. This guy became rich, wealthy and great despite the economic condition in the country (nobody can mess with a man or woman of covenant). Of course, this drew haters, doubters, naysayers, talebearers, jealous folks, liabilities etc, you get my point.

They began to close the wells that supplied water for his crops and herds. Eventually, they ordered him to leave their country cause they saw him as too powerful. What!?!? So Isaac left and settled in the valley of that country and decided to start afresh. Guys, they may stop your resource but can’t stop your source. Just stay connected to the vine (God) and you’ll be fruitful anywhere, anytime – John 15:5a.

My man Isaac dug another well but these same liabilities claimed the well. Isaac left the well and called it Esek because they quarreled, argued, contented and strove for the well. He dug a second well and they claimed it also. He called it Sitnah because they came with hostility, enmity and accusation for the well. My man moved on and dug a third well. This time no issue; he named it Rehoboth because God gave him enough space, made him flourish and fruitful.

At this point Isaac was on a tear. He then moved from the so called valley to another region named Beersheba where he would later dig another well and find water. Here the liabilities came to make peace and enter into a treaty/oath with him (really?!?!) because they had seen how God blessed him in spite of their negative energy. They may have despised you but they will soon admire you – Proverbs 16:7. Isaac was magnanimous to grant their request. He called that well Shebah, meaning well of oath/promise.

Isaac met each onslaught with result. Let your result do the speaking. Fam, don’t stay and argue, contend, quarrel or strife with them; that’s what they want. Instead move on, move forward, dig again, make progress, improve yourself, build your business/brand, work on that dream/vision – make it a reality. If God is for you, who can be successful against you? Romans 8:31(AMP) – NOBODY!

Don’t let them drag you to their level. When they go low, you go high. Don’t give in to their negativity and distraction. Rather, use it as fuel to propel you to greatness. Break their resistance with persistence in prayer, love and God’s word. They may not like your face but they can’t take your space. Nobody can stop you except YOU!!

P.S. 2 Kings chapter 2 talks of another friend of mine, Elisha, who silenced his skeptics. Let’s remain focused on our grind. Peace!

I really like this message. So often, we have people around us, that unfortunately are really liabilities, and dealing with them the right way is not easy or desirable. But learning how to is major. When they go low, you go high.

Do I sense a part 2 of this topic? You can’t just give us a P.S. about Elisha like that. Let’s get into it. Another post pls!

LOL… a sequel sounds like a great idea.
You’re right W.W. Learning how to deal with liabilities is major and truly a skill worth learning.

So well said! In life there will be a number trials and a number of enemies. The more successful you are the more attention you will attract, and it will not be all good, especially if your living in God’s truth. As the classic saying goes “Mo’ money, mo’ problems” lol.

As you have stated, keeping your eye on God, believing, trusting, and maintaining your peace is key in order to miss the distractions so that you may hit your goals.

Great post Soji! It’s it’s true that we allow people and situations to hinder us from achieving our full potential. For whatever the reason may be, whether it be familiarity, fear or complacency. I like when you said to not stay and argue or quarrel. Because in doing so not only are you wasting time, but you lose your vision. You are now so focused on trying to prove to this person that you’re right, that you lose your vision. The Bible says do not throw your pearls to pigs. Amen well done…use your assets..lose your liabilities…

“When they go low, you go higher even”
Great quotes to live by and very encouraging. It’s really true how when you decide to elevate, you face even more opposition from people you never expected but like you said we should always stay connected to the SOURCE even if the resources are not there and that will always be enough to sustain one.

Well said Afe. A lot of times we focus on what’s said of us in the grapevine than what the Vine says of us. See how I’m dropping free rhymes for you… Lol
